Must show this video to the Uncle downstairs.

Last time I was there, it took him 20 minutes to apply my screen protector! :o)

It seems that coffee and cigarettes makes us smarter – take that National Healthy Lifestyle campaign!! Albeit for a short period.

The caffeine / nicotine combo increases processing speed and improves short-term working memory.
Not that I am encouraging anyone to smoke. As we all know, smoking has countless negative effects including cancer and stroke.
Speaking of which, quitting too has its own set of negative side effects so you might want to take it a day at a time. Good news though, those effects are short term.
As for coffee, take small, regular doses for maximum effect.

Coffee and cigarettes

I get enough sleep….don’t I?

Today I found that my daily 6 hours of sleep may not be enough!

Apparently you need 8 hours of sleep – daily – to operate on an optimum level.

Lack of sleep has been known to cause accidents, serious health problems and affects cognitive processes.

Having trouble falling asleep? Try these 6 steps

Sweet dreams! 😮

So is it true that we only use 10% of our brains and that we have 90% worth of untapped potential just waiting to be unleashed (preferably in terms of cool powers such as telekinesis or mind blasting)?

Unfortunately the answer is no.
Our brains have always been fully utilized – though not all at once – and this 10% is a myth that can be traced back to a comment made by an American psychologist, William James back in the early 20th century.
And it makes sense. According to the article, if we are only using 10% of our brains, then any efforts to remove any parts of our “unused” brains should not affect us at all. Even during sleep, our brains remain active at a eer, sleep mode.
Oh and the Mythbusters explored this and their verdict? Closer to 35% of usage.
Myth Busted!

Here are some ways to get people to talk about you:

  1. Be loud and obnoxious
  2. Take fashion tips from Lady Gaga
  3. Do something outrageous

But by getting people to talk about you, does that mean they are interested to know more about you?

Maybe.

Or you can do this.

Basically ask questions and show genuine interest.

Remember that a stimulating conversation goes both ways – you don’t have to do all the talking to be a good conversationalist (unless you sound like Liam Neeson). Talk to much and people can and will lose interest.

Of course it might not work all the time – some people just don’t like to talk about themselves – but hey, it’s better than walking around with a lobster on your head.

Interested = interesting (?)

The world does not revolve around you…and here’s proof

We often believe we are living under a microscope and that everyone is always looking, scrutinizing and judging our every move, waiting to pounce if we did something wrong.
Not true.
Far from it.
Often enough, nobody noticed your faux pas or if they did, simply forget about it.
It’s called the “spotlight effect“.
We are also more critical of OUR mistakes and believes that others judge us by that same stick.
Again, not true.
People – especially strangers and if they noticed anything at all – are more charitable in their assessment of our mistakes (not friends though, you’ll never live down THAT time when you did THAT thing at THAT party).
So the moral is, be bolder and more adventurous because it seems that everyone else could care less and/or more forgiving than you thought.
